The true vision

The priest ordered all the unbelievers to experience the cleansing fire until they saw the truth. This was the way to deal with those who do not accept the word and who insist on keeping to their own beliefs in spite of our congretation's generous efforts by hot iron and water to save them from eternal damnation and worse, splitting them apart and ripping their minds from them as ordained by holy writ. This then, is the rock on which the faith is founded for all to know. This, then, is the true face of those who stand most sanctimoniously and speak of morality, shout at sin as they see it and curse the sinner and offer salvation. For there is nothing in their words or their righteousness but empty wind.
