As Tonsorial Assistant to the priestly ones and artful with a blade, rope and winch, Mukamal was well known for his ability to get others to strike up a conversation and, thereby, to suddenly give up their deepest secrets. Many found his preaching of faith to be strong enough for them to accept the true beliefs and to submit to the ultimate testing by both water and fire, including that most holy of acts, the exchange of limbs.
