Plate CVIV – Meagly

(From Field Guide IV)

(As decreed, the Royal Naturalist and Master of Teleology, kept a log of all creatures that we captured and ate.)

This beast of the bird genera (Trockmyria cricciao) bedeviled us as we attempted to cross a strong stream, diving and clawing us and making bloody wounds on unprotected necks and arms which later festered and oozed and causing stinking fevers of the gut that left its sufferers weak and so despondent that they prayed for death and worse. The application of prayer and amulet as well as supplications for divine intervention failed to save them as these were clear evidence of the spontaneous generation of Evil in nature, requiring resinous salves which we did not possess.
