Episode XIXCIV – Nahgrah

This mythic beast, The Nahgrah, is sacred to all but the unwashed as the Guardian of the Revered Orb and as such the subject of great devotion and a worthy recipient of many sacrifices from among those who do not willing accept the true expressions of devotion and must be cleansed of sinful ways and failure to confess guilt by much smiting and other rectifications, including chain, ratchet and dredge, both inside and out until there is little but smoke and cinder and our supplications that they had not suffered unduly.

Plate XXVII – Snieven (From Field Guide IV)

(As decreed, the Royal Naturalist and Master of Teleology, kept a log of all creatures that we captured and ate.)

This beast, Gruzer snievienus, of the bird genera was captured in great abundance but firing cannon into trees and knocking them senseless. After washing, they are thrown whole into a large boiling pot with brackish legumes and granular material for harsh roasting. After the resulting slimes are drawn off, the potage was fed to those captives awaiting retribution for failing to accept the true following and denying of the supremacy of the True One. Soon, they were eager for the knife and the sacred waters and we prayed for their redemption, although they rarely heard our supplications on their behalf for their screaming

Episode XIXCM - Mukamal, Tonsorial Assistant

As Tonsorial Assistant to the priestly ones and artful with a blade, rope and winch, Mukamal was well known for his ability to get others to strike up a conversation and, thereby, to suddenly give up their deepest secrets. Many found his preaching of faith to be strong enough for them to accept the true beliefs and to submit to the ultimate testing by both water and fire, including that most holy of acts, the exchange of limbs. For this zeal and for accepting pumice, Mukamal was chosen for sacrifice and after cracking made great smoke.
